Saturday

I hope everyone is having a great Saturday. I have spent the day deep cleaning a few rooms, cleaning carpet in one room (can't wait to rid my house of ALL carpet), catching up on laundry and bunches of other odds and ends I hadn't gotten to this week.

Ed is currently in California and flying home tomorrow...CAN'T WAIT! It's been a very long week with him gone. He travels so much that he was in Orlando on both days I have ever heard that Disney World was shut down. Once for a hurricane and then again on 9/11. He has missed numerous snow storms since we moved to Indiana and the blizzard of 2011 because he was yet again, out of town. And the funny (not ha ha funny, but hmmm funny) thing is that he gets to go to SUNNY places like Orlando and LA. Oh and this summer he is going to Dallas. Can't say I am all that jealous of that one because I grew up in Dallas and I know how HOT it is in July. lol

Well I am off to relax for the rest of the night. Well, I am going to TRY to relax anyway. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Cats and an awesome hack

Do you like cats? Do you have a cat? Here’s a picture of our last kitty. Her name was Sassy.

Picture 006

I have always had cats until the last few years. I love cats and miss having one around. I have been debating about getting one but keep finding reasons not to. One reason is that my dogs tend to “snack” in the litter box. It’s disgusting as well as makes a huge mess. Then the other day I found an awesome hack on the Ikea Hackers blog that I think will solve my problem with the pooches “snacking”.

It’s a cabinet for the litter box! This is seriously genius! I even have the perfect spot for it, in our now empty upstairs loft. I could make and cover a cushion for the top, throw on a couple of pillows and we have a bench with a kitty box inside! How awesome is that??? I got so excited I sent the link to hubby. He keeps saying “no more animals” but I know he loves cats. Plus how can he say no to sweet ole me??? Angel

I am still thinking about this. Still unsure if it’s right for us at this time in our lives to have a cat.

I do miss the purring though.

Have a great weekend and don’t forget to enter my giveaway if you haven’t already!

Board and Batten-front entry

At the same time we were working on the stairs and the B&B for the stairs and entry from the garage we also put up B&B in the front entry. It all runs together so it kinda made sense although I wish we had finished the stairs THEN did the board and batten on the walls. At least now it’s done. Smile Oh and let’s not forget we are also painting all of our stained woodwork white. In the entire house. It’s taking forever (or feels like it!).

Sorry about the flash. Stupid camera. Some of the paint was still wet too from touch ups so that didn’t help.

Here are some pics from when we first bought the house.

We still need to decide where to hang up pictures and get them back on the walls but I am waiting for Edward to find the time to help me with that. Smile Right now I am in no big hurry, I enjoy looking at the newly finished B&B all by itself.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this as much as I enjoy looking at it (now that it’s done)!

Don't forget about my giveaway! You can enter it here.

Come back soon!

Mr. and Mrs. Pillow covers giveaway!

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED........

With all this wedding talk going right now because of Will and Kate I was thinking about the Mr. and Mrs. pillow covers I made for my room-which I L.O.V.E.!!!

So, today while I was ‘relaxing’ I started making some. I have 3 sets ready to be stenciled (which I will do after the kids go to bed). I really do love making these! If you had told me a year ago that I would one day enjoy sewing something I would have thought you nuts! I was terrified of the sewing machine (bad experiences in the past and all…)! I am pretty comfortable with it now and I really like making pillow covers. I think everyone should want some. Smile

Okay, so here’s the deal. I am going to give away a set of these Mr. and Mrs. pillow covers (20x20-no pillow inserts). All you have to do to enter is leave me a message letting me know that you are a follower and want to be entered into this giveaway. If you are not currently a follower, go ahead, follow me! Then let me know that you are and would like to be entered for the giveaway. That’s it. Very easy.

I will announce the giveaway winner May 7, 2011.

Oh and the 2 extra sets I am making will be put in my etsy store as soon as I get it up and running! Smile

I hope you visit again soon!

Our stairs-THE REVEAL!

It’s finally time to reveal our new stairs! This post has been a long. time. coming. It took us most of this month to get this done. The finish work took the longest. Okay, well here they are! (Excuse the flash and so-so pics, my camera is 6 years old and on it’s last leg!)

I just LOVE them! Although…we are not done. Yes. I said it. We are not done. After putting up the B&B on the stairs and choosing NOT to put the ledge on the top I thought it looked kinda plain so we will be going back and adding cove to make it a little more decorative.

Oh and here’s the before. And you can go here to see what we were working with under that carpet.

Good bye “golden” oak. Good bye boring walls and orangey trim.

Hello beautiful Kona brown and white stairs!

When we bought this house I loved it. I loved the POTENTIAL it has so you know there is more work to be done but I am taking some time off to enjoy what we have done thus far.

You can go here to see details about how we did the stairs. :)

Next up I will show you the Board and Batten in our front entry way. Smile Visit again soon!
