March 31, 2010

Today was an absolutely beautiful day! It was also the boys last day of school at the private Preschool (Ethan goes to his other class tomorrow) before Spring Holiday. It was warm but a bit windy. I had hoped to paint my balls today but there was just too much wind. I did, however, make more fabric covered eggs and I covered a plastic egg with hemp. It's not as easy as using the foam balls (or eggs), I couldn't get the cord on really tight like I needed. Maybe once I spray paint it the egg won't show underneath.

The boys enjoyed playing outside until dinner. After dinner they went to the basement to play, which is where they are now.

Here are some pics from today.

My basket runneth over. lol

March 30, 2010

Well today started off with a 2 hour school delay due to fog. That made Ethan's class have a 1 hour delay. The boys and I didn't do a lot this morning, just hung around and watched TV. It was a bit too cold to go out and play until this afternoon. Edward was out playing when Ethan came home and he went directly to the back yard. They love their new play set.

After Ethan went off to school and Edward went out back to play I worked on some crafts. I made fabric covered eggs (plastic eggs covered with fabric-tutorial is here, which I still need to work on to get them just right and I made 2 more hemp balls.

In other news...the offer we had on the house has been put back on the table. We decided to accept it with a few conditions because we can't compete with the new builders prices even though our home has much more than a new home has to offer. Buyers are looking at price not quality which will probably bite them in the butts later but not my problem. Hopefully it works out and we can get out from under that payment.

Here is a pic of the eggs.

Comments are fixed

Sorry about that. Now you will get a pop up window for comments. The other way just isn't working.

Today Edward was home sick. Turns out he has strepp. Marisa's tonsils are still swelled but her strepp test came back negative. Edward is not fun to deal with when he is sick.

It was a beautiful day, high of 54. The back yard is very soggy from all the rain. Once we get the mulch around the play set it won't be so bad for them to play there but today they got pretty muddy.

I worked on flower arrangements for Spring and some hemp balls today. I think the balls came out pretty good but I do need to remove some of the glue strings. I will get better the more I do. Just have to paint them now. Here is the tutorial I used: http://makeitandloveit.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2010-03-09T11%3A11%3A00-05%3A00&max-results=7 . Tonight I am going to cut out the sayings stencils so I can start to paint those this week too. There is an egg craft I tried to do but failed at miserably. I will try again later after I check the tutorial again. Maybe I did it wrong or something.

Well here are some pics from today.

Chef Ethan

LOL.

Tree step 1

I did not tape the trunk. I tried to but it was drawn free hand and there are no straight lines. lol So here it is, my first coat on the trunk. I ran out of paint so I will pick some up tomorrow. I was apprehensive at first about this tree design but I think it is going to work out well. I got the idea from something I saw online. Next to draw will be the fire truck.

This weeks goals

Ed just left for California and I have been thinking about what I would like to accomplish this week. We are supposed to have very nice weather after today's rain so I think I can get a lot done (I do better when we have sunshine). The boys play set is done and they will no doubt spend many hours playing on it which will enable me to actually get some things done!

This week I would like to try out a new decoration idea I found on a blog called hemp balls. They are really cute and it looks like they will be pretty simple to make. I also found a tutorial on twine and strings balls that I am going to try out as well. If they work out the girls and I may make up a bunch of them and put them in the garage sale our neighborhood is having in May. :) I also found a tutorial on making your own topiaries that I would like to try out in the next couple of weeks too but I think I may need to go to Hobby Lobby for some supplies first.

I also plan to run a few errands tomorrow and see if I can find stuff for Jessica's Luau party which is less than 4 weeks now. That is seasonal stuff so I will have to get it as soon as I find it. What I don't have in 2 weeks I will have to order online.

As soon as I am done with this post I am heading to the playroom to work on the tree I am painting on the wall. I need to tape the trunk to make for straighter lines so that is step one then I will paint the trunk brown. I would like to have the entire tree done by the end of the week. :)

The kids are out of school Friday and all of the following week for Spring Break so we will be doing fun crafts and some Spring Cleaning (which you KNOW they just love!). I would do a lot of it this week but Ed is picking up some storage boxes for me at IKEA while he is in California. I really wish we had one within an hours drive. :(

Off to tape and paint now. Will post pics later....

Play set is finished

Ed and Marisa were out until 10 pm last night working on the play set in the dark. They got most of it done. Ed went out in the rain this morning to finish it. What a good daddy he is. :) Here are the pics.

In the dark

Here is Ed and Marisa working on the play set in the dark. Temp is 44, feels like 39.

March 27, 2010

It's been a very long day. The boys got us up at 8 am and we have been going every since. Both boys have been grumpy and it makes it hard to get anything done. Ed worked on putting up the play set last night and all day today. He just came in to read a story to the boys then he will be back out there, in the dark with a drop light, trying to finish it. I got the boys letters put on their wall today. I ended up cutting into my hand with the scissors when I was cutting the Velcro I was using to attach them to the wall. It hurts pretty bad. I probably needed stitches but who has time to sit for 2 to 3 hours for stitches for a not so major cut? I don't have that kind of time. I hardly have time to shower.

It wasn't exactly warm today. Fifty degrees is not warm when the wind is blowing. It is supposed to be in the mid to upper 40's tomorrow with rain. Ed leaves tomorrow afternoon so hopefully we don't get any bad storms. The weather for this coming week looks great though! Of course they are calling for rain Easter Sunday, hopefully that changes. If not we will have the boys do the egg hunt Saturday. I am planning to make a 4 layer Easter cake, should be fun.

Jessica's birthday is coming up next month and we are doing a Luau themed party. We told her either Chuck E Cheese or a theme and she chose the theme. :) I have been looking for decorations and party favors online. I will check the stores before I order though. I hear that Dollar Tree has a lot of Luau stuff really cheap so that is the first place I am going to check this week.

Well here are the pics. Enjoy. I will add more tomorrow when it is done.

Easter wreaths

Well here they are but they did not turn out the way they were supposed to. The foam was supposed to be self sticking but the backing wouldn't come off so we tried to glue them and that didn't work so we ended up stapling them to the plates.

We are going to start working on the play set as soon as Ed comes home. He is supposed to leave at 4 pm today. I will post pics later. :) BTW, temp is currently 40 with a wind chill of 33. It won't be warm but at least the sun is out. Tomorrow should be better.

March 25, 2010

Ethan had a wonderful day at school today. He came home wearing the same clothes that he went to school wearing! I think we are finally on our way to full potty training. We are taking it one day at a time and so far we are improving quite well. He also did well at school when one of his friends took a toy from him, he didn't have a fit but he went to the teacher and let her know and she took care of it. That is a huge improvement over the fits he usually throws in the same situation (usually with Edward).

We did not get the wreaths made today. I spent the afternoon running errands and finishing up the laundry so I can clean the laundry room tomorrow. Tomorrow I also hav1e a parent/teacher conference with the boys preschool teachers. And on top of that I have 5 bananas that are really ripe so I am making banana cake and blueberry banana bread. I am pretty sure we will have time to get the wreaths done tomorrow though. And we are hoping to start assembling the play set tomorrow as well. Should be a busy, productive day.

Went to Lowe's

Tonight we went to Lowe's and got the play set for the boys. It is going to be so awesome! Eventually we plan to make a sandbox (ugh, sand!) under the tower and do a mulch bed around the entire thing but first we must get it put together!!! Here is a pic of the boxes of materials that will soon become a play set.

Ed is hoping to have it put together this weekend. Photobucket

March 24, 2010

Today was a pretty good day. I took the boys to preschool then I went shopping at Target. I went to get a small globe I had seen last week for the mantel but they were gone. :( I know to buy stuff when I find it and not wait but I end up waiting and not getting it. Ugh. I did find the boys some shorts and shirts for summer and I picked up Easter stuff for the kids baskets. I still need to get stuff to put in the eggs for the egg hunt. Before dinner we worked on the eggs that we will use tomorrow for the egg wreath. The girls joined in on the fun too (Jessica had just come in from Tennis practice). It's supposed to rain tomorrow so I am sure we will get the wreaths done and may even work on egg shaped bunnies. :) Here are some pics.
