Home Sweet Home Pillow
This pillow cover was inspired by this one from PB.
I love all the swirling lines!
Here is the one I came up with using my Cricut and Make the Cut software.
I stenciled the words on in red. I am very happy with how this turned out.
BTW…I LOVE making pillow covers.
I am considering opening an etsy shop and selling them but I worry how much time I will have to make them with all the home renovations we have planned. What do ya think?
Have a great day!

Where’s your bathroom???
I saw this done not too long ago on another blog (can’t remember whose right now though) and I thought it was hysterical. I had to do it. This is the kids bathroom upstairs.
I also put them on the powder room door on the main floor but the door hasn’t been painted yet so they don’t really show up. It’s silly little things like this that I just LOVE.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

New curtains
I know it’s been a while since I posted anything. I have been recouping from all that painting I did the last time Ed was in California. He has actually been doing some painting and adding more crown molding. We ran out of wall paint so I can’t post about that just yet. ![]()
A couple of weeks ago I bought some paint drop cloths with the intention of making curtains. I finally got them done yesterday. They weren’t hard but I had not been motivated. My windows had been naked for a while and I finally had enough of it. I made 4 panels out of a 12 x 9 drop cloth. It was two 6 x 9 drop cloths sewed together so I took out the seam and cut them to 3 x 9 pieces. I have yet to hem them but I kinda like them all gathered on the floor.
The one in the bathroom I had to cut to fit the window and I made the tie ups with more drop cloth. I really like how these turned out and it is such an inexpensive material to use! No, it’s not perfect but that ‘s what I like most about it!
We have not even begun to work on painting our room and bathroom yet so please excuse the orangey trim and boring walls.
I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Last week
Good morning all!
Last Monday I told ya that I had started panting the library and shelves for the library-well it took ALL WEEK. Seriously. I. painted. every. day. last. week. I am exhausted. There are so many things that I WANT to do now but just can’t find the energy for. Edward was in California Sunday to Sunday so I was here with the 4 kids on my own, doing everything around the house by myself plus the painting. Luckily I reinstated kitchen duty for the girls a couple of weeks ago so the kitchen kinda got cleaned every day. So anyway…here is a sneak peek of the library. We are not nearly finished yet.
The wall color is Summer Harvest by Benjamin Moore mixed at Benjamin Moore. I took the chip to Lowe’s and they tried to match it 4 times but never got it right and when I asked if I should just go to Ben Moore she said “probably”. lol So much for being able to color match anything. I actually ended up liking the Ben Moore paint a lot better than the Valspar. Every time we paint the walls after a few days we get white spots where it looks like the paint shurnk or something but not this time. I keep going in and checking and nothing! I am so excited not to have to go back and touch up.
We have had that problem with Valspar and Behr paints so we thought it was just us but apparently it isn’t. Oh and I got the wall color from Sandra at Sawdust and Paperscraps. It’s what she used in her kitchen and I REALLY love it. I am planning to use it in the kitchen and the family room as well. I tried 7 yellows and this was by far my favorite.
So, I spent my week painting. I feel like I was run over by a train but this week I have to start painting the trim in the entry. I have to say that painting is not my favorite activity right now.
I did manage a break to take the boys to the park on Thursday because the weather was so nice. Jessica went with us as well.
At least the weather is improving and we can get out and play!
I hope everyone has a great week!

What we have been up to
Last week Edward cut the carpet on the stairs to see what we would be dealing with once we started the make over. Of course it was what we had thought it was going to be-ugly lumber.
We were hoping that we would uncover really nice wood stairs so we wouldn’t have to put out the extra expense of replacing the wood treads and risers. So we went out and bought 13 oak treads and 14 oak risers.
Friday night we were wondering about the bottom 3 steps. They extend out on each side and are finished on the ends. We had no idea how we were going to match the new risers up with them or if we even needed to do that. Edward said he felt like cutting into that area to see what was there and I told him to go for it. We were pleasantly surprised to find nice wood stairs under that disgusting carpet!
Just look at that carpet! I am really worried about what is under the carpet in the rest of the house. Ick. I can’t wait till we get to rip it ALL out and put down wood.
After a light sanding and some wood filler here is what the steps look like now. They still need work before they can be primed and painted.
We took back 3 treads and 3 risers and that saved us $102! The stair project is costing us less than we had thought so that means more money for other stuff! Yay!!!
Oh and I changed the color of the railing upstairs. Something about the other color just bugged me. I am much happier with the new color which is Kona from Rustoleum.
This is the exact color I was trying to find and had no luck. I am so happy I finally found it!
Yesterday I started painting the library and the shelving for the library. It took 7 hours to get two coats of primer on all of it. It is taking longer than I thought it would but I am hopeful that I will be done with the painting by Friday.
Have a great week y’all!
