Memorial Day weekend

We spent our weekend working on our projects. I finally got the boys ladder tables put in their room. Plans are here: http://www.knock-offwood.com/2010/04/furniture-plans-super-easy-but-little.html

The coffee table is finished and in the family room. Plans are here: http://www.knock-offwood.com/2009/12/plans-little-farmhouse-table-for.html

Our Farmhouse bed is built and almost ready for primer. Plans are here: http://www.knock-offwood.com/2009/10/farmhouse-bed-save-158100_7467.html

It has been hot and humid here. I can deal with hot but humid I do not care for a bit. Jessica and the boys took advantage of the heat and “tanned'” and played in the pool.

I spent my downtime taking pics of the kids and the flower beds. I really like our flower beds but they are a lot to have to keep up with.

I hope everyone had a great Holiday weekend!

Pictures

I tried to get the pictures so that they could be enlarged like they have been when I use blogger to post but Windows Writer would not allow it without making the posted picture bigger which causes some issues. From now on I will put the pictures in my Windows Live Album (link is at the bottom of this page). Maybe I can figure it out but this is what I will do for now.

Chris

Please be patient

I am having issues with the pics in Live Writer so please be patient with me. I am hoping the next post will be correct. Thanks! Chris

Play group at the park

Today Ethan’s pre k class had a play group at the park. They have play group once a month but it’s normally during the time the boys are at the other school Friday morning but since they are out for summer now we had the opportunity to attend. It was really fun for them and it was great for them to get to socialize with others. There were kids from the other pre k class and from the MW and morning classes that Ethan had not met before. It was hot, hotter than it was last year at this time. This heat came on quick and it is not pleasant. I hope it cools down to normal temps soon or it’s going to end up like being where we came from! I didn’t get many pics at the park today but here are a few.

005 That’s Edward way back there.

007 Ethan running, as usual. :)

010 Edward running towards me.

011 Ethan heading up to the tower.

It really was a good trip. Edward finally over came his fear of the ‘bridge’ which really isn’t a bridge and I showed him that although it does move it has a floor under it. It’s meant to be jumped on and be bridge like but not a real bride. He also, within minutes of playing back and forth on the bridge, went down the tube slide. For some reason he has been afraid of it this Spring. He loved it last year though.

We are planning on doing some painting and building this weekend. Hopefully I get the red tables done and start (maybe finish) staining the coffee table. I would love to have that in the house by Monday night!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Learning the Pledge

Marisa decided (have no idea why) to teach the boys the Pledge of Allegiance

May 25, 2010

Today it has been one month since we all lost something very precious. It is still very hard on us but we are working our way through it. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by this loss.

I spent the day cleaning. I had some normal Tuesday cleaning to do but I also found many other things to keep myself occupied (physically but not entirely mentally). I oiled the stairs and they look so much better now. I also oiled the base boards and cabinets in the 1/2 bath and they too are much improved. Our poor house has just not been cared for in the manner it should have been and it will take us some time to get everything in order and back to the way it should be. Ethan went to school and had a good day. We played out front when he came home. He loves to be outside but it was a bit humid for me. I am waiting to do any further painting or staining until the humidity goes down some.

Here is a picture of something Jessica did in her art class this year. It is a self portrait. We think she did pretty good. She is very artistic. :) 011 I still think it looks a lot like Marisa too but then again they do look alike.

Not much else to talk about. Ed is going to assemble the shelf we ordered for Jessica’s room (they were out at the store so we had to order online and it arrived today). She now has 2 tall white shelves, just cheap ones from WallyWorld but once I get my Cricut I plan to make them really cute! I hope I can find vinyl real cheap. lol I hear contact paper works just as well on most things so I will check into that too. Ain’t no telling what I will use to decorate cause the Cricut will cut lots of different materials. I am going to have SO MUCH FUN!!! LOL

Testing

You can ignore this post unless you really want to see pics of the animals at the zoo. :) I am testing Windows Live Writer and seeing how this thing works.

Trip to the zoo and yard work

Here are some pictures from our trip to the zoo today. I am also using a Windows program to do this blog so if it doesn’t work out, sorry. I am hoping to be able to put more pictures on the blog. Doing them one at a time is very irritating.

Here are pictures of the house Jessica took after we finished mulching the front flower beds and Ed trimmed the underneath of the Blue Spruce in the front corner that was in desperate need of care. We will probably trim it again next Spring to even it out but we didn’t want to put it into shock. We still have 3 Blue Spruces to trim in the back. The yard is looking a lot better now.
