Our kitchen plan and new pendant lights for the island

Now that the stairs and the entry ways are done Ed and I are about to embark on our next DIY home improvement adventure-our kitchen redo. If I had the money I would rip it clean out and start over again but I don’t. We refuse to finance anything so all projects are pay as we go. One day (hopefully very soon) we would like to be debt free! How nice would that be??? So things may progress slowly but that's okay.

Here is the plan in no particular order:

  • paint cabinets white
  • add bead board to island
  • paint island black
  • add a couple of cabinets
  • new countertops
  • bead board backsplash painted white
  • paint walls
  • new sink
  • new faucet
  • add lighting
  • replace last 2 original appliances (icky cream colored)
  • next year sometime we will put down hand scraped hard wood but that’s a way off yet

This is not a project we are going to do all at once. We are doing a little at a time as we have the time and money.

I found the pendant lights that I wanted at ikea.com but the IKEA we go to does not carry them or maybe just doesn’t have them in stock so while Ed was in California last week he stopped by IKEA and picked them up for me. They are both the FOTO aluminum 10 inch.

I can’t wait to get them up! All I need to do is go to Lowe’s or Home Depot and pick up electrical wire, 3 more can lights (adding 3 to the 6 existing) and 2 can light converter kits. Oh and we have to find the time. Sometimes it’s easier to come up with the money for a project than the time to actually DO it. Surprised smile

We have a few other “little” projects in the works right now I will share with you once they are finished. I know I was supposed to take a break and I did (I cleaned, organized and sewed) and now I am back to work. Winking smile

And if you have not already done so please enter my giveaway (you can find the link in the side bar). I am giving away a set of these awesome pillow covers! If you don't win them and still would like a set I will be opening an etsy shop in the near future and will have them there.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you visit again real soon!
