WAS SHE THINKING????

Ever have one of those moments when your child has done something insanely stupid and instead of thinking to yourself “WHAT were they thinking???” you wonder “WERE they thinking????”. Well we had one of these moments today.

Edward Jr. and I had been home about 5 minutes from running errands when the call came in on my cell phone. Phone calls this week, especially from the high school, have not brought positive results. Monday I was woke up by an assistant principal telling me that my two wonderful daughters had a screaming match at school (before school) and if they had not been sisters they would be on their way to jail then I had the school call and leave a message today that summer school is cancelled FOR BOTH GIRLS due to lack of participation (yes they both failed at least one class this year!!!). Well when my cell phone rang and it was a local number but no name I immediately felt sick…what did they do now???  It was Marisa and she proceeds to tell me one of the dumbest things I have heard in a long, long time. Apparently their journalism teacher told them to take pictures doing “spontaneous” things. Great. Teenagers are already spontaneous enough and now someone has encouraged them to do this for the CAMERA!!! So, my daughter-who just turned 17-decides to JUMP OFF THE BLEACHERS and this is at least a 10 foot drop, with no shoes on and lands on her feet then her butt. Of course she is hurt. What idiot would do this to begin with? She is lucky she didn’t break her neck or end up with a spinal injury. But you know what she tells me when I let her know how stupid this was??? BUT IT WAS A GREAT PICTURE!!! Is she freaking kidding me??? Here it is BTW.

Needless to say the nurse insisted I come get her, school was out by then anyway. I got her an appt with the pediatrician and he sent her for x rays (after asking her if she was going to be in the next JackAss movie!!!). She is not broken, not any of her bones are anyway. I will get back to you on her brain though.

  1. Your rotten day made me laugh and laugh. I have all boys and I always imaged that girls were some how easier! Your story is precious, and one that you'll be able to laugh at...someday!
