Stairs, entry, Jess’ room…

Wow. Last week was quite a week. Ed took the week off so we could rip out and replace the treads and risers on our stairs plus do some painting and various other things. Things were going along fine until Tuesday around 2 am when I woke up sick. I ended up having the flu and not being much help for most of the week. Ed did a great job on the stairs though. He replaced the treads and risers, primed everything then painted and polyed the treads. He also put board and batten in the entry way from the garage and did some painting. I got Jessica’s room painted then painted the walls and trim in both entry ways. Yes, in 9 days that’s all I did. I was really sick.

Here are some pics of what we have done so far. Nothing is finished yet so please don’t judge too harshly. Sorry about the flash in the pics, it’s still dark outside!

I have to paint the risers and the trim white then Ed can add the cove. Plus I have to paint the banisters on each side.

Ed has to caulk here then I can do touch up painting. Please ignore the ugly door, I didn’t paint it because we are going to replace it soon. The door is the original color of the walls-some kind of ugly nicotine color. Nasty. I ordered the hooks I want to hang in here so hopefully they don’t take too long to arrive.

Here is Jess’ room as it sits now. The purple bedding will be gone when it’s done but I still have to pick up the duvet cover from Bed, Bath and Beyond then I have to get the sheets and comforter from Ikea plus make curtains panels. AND I have to paint anything left that is purple either black or white.  It will be at least a month until this room is ready for a reveal.

I plan to spend the first part of this week getting my house back in order. It’s a disaster area plus there is a ton of laundry to catch up on. I will get back to working on the stairs and entry Wednesday and Thursday. Friday Marisa is having surgery so I will be with her all day.

Jessica made it back from Orlando Friday evening. She was exhausted but had a great time. I told her to take lots of pics but she apparently doesn’t know what “lots” means. lol I will get her pics loaded to my computer and share a few soon, well the few that she took anyway.
