New chairs for the library

For Mother’s Day I asked for the 2 chairs I wanted to go in the library. So we headed to Ikea in Ohio and picked them up. Smile

See this beautiful chest? It’s Ed’s. It has been hiding out in our room but I thought it would work perfectly in the library. It does. It is thought that this chest was made by Ed’s maternal great grandfather. There is a key for the lock but it has been stuck in a vase for many, many years (my mother in law first remembers seeing the key in the vase when she was a young teenager). I am going to try my hand it getting it out next time I am at his mom’s house. Smile Edward says he spent lots of time growing up trying to get it out so I probably won’t succeed but I can try. Edward estimates that this chest is about 100 years old. It is in EXCELLENT condition for being that old and I absolutely love it!

The library is no where near finished but I made the pillows for the chairs, painted the walls, trim and book shelves and bought new chairs. What I still have to do is:

  • paint the curtains I made the other day
  • buy a rug (putting down wood floors next year)
  • make/buy wall décor

Since I am one who works on everything at once it takes me forever to finish one room. Smile I am hoping to paint the curtains this week and will share them next week.

I hope you stop by again soon!

  1. That looks like a lovely corner to sit in and read! Everything about it looks great, but that chest is wonderful, it's so nice to have pieces of furniture with history, especially family history.

Can't wait to see the room when its all finished!
