Our front living room is small, about 10 x 12 and there are 2 doorways and 2 windows. It has been hard trying to decide what to do in there. When I saw Sandra’s library at Sawdust and Paperscraps I knew I wanted to do something similar. I talked with Edward about making built in book shelves but then I realized that I have books shelves that will work perfectly!
We bought these book shelves at IKEA in Germany back in 2003. We have had them in 5 houses and they are still going strong. I am over the antique color so I will be painting them white and changing out the backing for beadboard. I also have another one of the large book shelves in my bedroom but I haven’t decided if I want to bring it down yet or not.
As for seating…I have a nice, comfy microfiber loveseat currently sitting in that room but it won’t be staying.
My biggest problem with the mircrofiber love seat is the spots and if I clean the spots it leaves more spots so I have to clean the entire thing to keep it from being spotty. Annoying when you have dogs and small kids. Plus I think it is a bit big for the room with the shelves in it. It’s back to the basement for the love seat.
Instead we are getting 2 of these chairs from IKEA with machine washable covers!!! They will be placed in front of the two windows facing the shelves.
I would like to find a sofa table or chest of drawers for the far wall where the love seat currently sits but I have not yet found one I like. I may end up building a table if I can’t find what I want for a decent price.
I still have to paint the walls, trim and windows and add crown molding. The only things that I plan to keep from the picture above are the shelves so I have a lot of work to do! First up is deciding what color to paint the walls!
Thanks for stopping by!

Oh that is going to look great! I would love to have a library area! Totally on my "dream" wish list! :) Can't wait to see how it turns out!
