Our new table runner
I finally got the table runner done this morning while the boys were in school. You can find instructions for it at http://livingwithlindsay.com/2009/10/the-7-burlap-table-runner.html . I am thrilled how it turned out and how it looks on the table. The burlap was $7.41 and the stitch witch (binding tape) was about $3 so for about $11 I got a table runner that is long enough for our 84 inch table and it has a wonderful texture that adds so much to the room!
The dining room will be a work in progress for probably the next year. Ed is going to make our bedroom furniture first then he will make the table and since we live in a place that gets snow from October/November to March/April there is no way to get to the table before the snow comes. I may get the chairs painted this summer though. We are keeping the current chairs and painting them black. The table will be a Rustic/Farmhouse table, plans found here http://www.knock-offwood.com/2010/03/plans-very-rustic-table-and-cool.html . We are going to paint/stain it to look similar to this http://www.barksblog.com/2010/04/dining-room-facelift.html . They did an awesome job on their table! Ed is also going to build me a buffet with hutch and we will either paint it black or a white (antique, off-white, something similar) and we have 2 shelving units we may re-purpose for the dining room as well. Yesterday and today have been much better days than Saturday was (even though it is currently raining again!). Off to give the boys lunch and do my Monday cleaning. :)
