Art for Edward’s office

Anyone who knows me personally knows I am married to a math nerd. Seriously. It makes him great at his job but kinda annoys the rest of us (I love you honey!). Actually I don’t mind. We met while in college, both mathematics majors.

On to my project. He emailed this to me the other day and told me he liked it. I thought well that would make an awesome piece of art for his office!

So I gathered some 1 x 4’s and 1 x 2’s from the garage (with his help) and Edward used his nail gun to nail them together like this.

The boards are all scrap and of various lengths which is how I wanted it.

Next I cut the “I” and “Math” out of cardstock with my Cricut to make a stencil.

Then I printed out the heart with the formula then taped the stencils and the heart on the board where I wanted them.

062

I used graphite paper under the heart and traced it then went over that with a black sharpie…

And black craft paint to stencil the “I” and “Math”.

I wanted to give it an aged look so I wiped some stain on it with a rag.

Even though this was very simple and quick I think it is one of my favorite pieces. Edward says it’s because I am a Math nerd deep down too. Um, yeah, okay. Let’s go with that. Smile

This may end up in his office at home but he says he might take it to work as well. I love that he likes it so much!

Tomorrow's post is the piece of art I made for the kids playroom. See ya then!

Thanks for stopping by!
